Michigan law requires massage therapists to complete 625 hours of accredited training.  At A Healing Touch we believe in going above and beyond that requirement.  We are passionate learners and we love what we do.

Jamilah

Jamilah graduated with a 500 hour certificate from the Michigan Institute of Healing Arts & Sciences in 2008.  Since that time she has completed over 400 hours of continuing education with world-renowned experts from the Upledger Institute for CranioSacral Therapy, John F. Barnes MyoFascial Release Approach, The Manual Lymph Drainage Institute International, McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release, RockTape and Amber Davies of the

Trigger Point Therapy Workbook.  Other certifications include Acces Bars, Pillosage Thermal Connective Tissue Therapy, Reiki, acupressure, aromatherapy, taping, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and cupping.  She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher and an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer. Jamilah  opened A Healing Touch in 2010 so that she would have the time and space she needed to pursue her passion for educating  clients in self-care.

In 2015, after decades of health struggles, Jamilah was finally diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease  and her life has flourished since undergoing treatment.  Her rocky healing journey greatly informs her massage practice and has shaped her into a caring, compassionate healing artist who will truly listen to you as you craft your own path to wellness.   Her bodywork style is a unique blend of techniques that address not only the muscles but the connective tissue, lymphatics,  nervous system and energetic pathways of the body as well.  She will take time to educate you on how you can continue your healing journey at home.

Shelly

Since she was very young, Shelly always wanted to help people be better. Her belief is that everyone has the ability to heal themselves and anything is possible. Many times we just need help, guidance and encouragement to get there.

Shelly's calling started in 2010 with her own healing journey and  it showed her the importance of sharing that journey with others.  She became an intuitive energy practitioner and a Usui Reiki and Karuna Master Teacher. In 2012, she opened a spiritual wellness center on Mackinac Island that she owned and operated for 5 years offering services and teaching classes.

To further expand her abilities to help people "be better" and to address issues on the physical level, she attained her license in Massage Therapy from the Institute of Sanative Arts.  This allowed her to further her knowledge into many different areas including CranioSacral Therapy and Myofascial Release.

Along with energy work, Shelly specializes in Manual Lymph Drainage and WoodSculpting.  She is passionate about lymphatic massage and much of the lymphatic drainage work she offers is for people recovering from surgery. She loves educating people on the importance of the lymphatic system and ways to support it for wellness.

Shelly consults with each client and designs a custom session for their needs as every individual has a unique set of issues. She feels honored to do this work and looks forward to assisting others in their healing journey and helping them to create better lives for themselves.

Shelly offers Manual Lymph Drainage, CranioSacral Therapy, Signature Sessions, Ionic Foot Baths, MyoFascial Release,

Wood Therapy, Access Bars,  Energetic Face Lifts, Reiki and Comprehensive Energy Sessions  with skill and grace at our office  M & F from 8:30-4:30 and T-Th from 8:30-1:30.

Beth

beth.jpg

Beth began her career in massage therapy in 2011 after graduating valedictorian of her cohort at The Soma Institute in Chicago. She followed up by earning her diploma in Soma’s Master Clinical Massage Therapy program. She has since put her skills into practice in multiple venues including chiropractic offices, spas, massage offices, sporting events, casinos and private practice. Beth loves learning for learning’s sake and has accumulated a wide variety of continuing education training. This enables her to approach a client’s issues with an assortment of techniques to provide lasting pain relief and improved range of motion.

Beth uses primarily deep compression holds and slow, deep myofascial techniques for maximum relief of muscle tension and chronic restrictions. These are deeply calming to the nervous system and the effects tend to last longer than those of a traditional massage. She loves to ask "Do you want a massage, or to you want to get better?"

Beth works on Thursday from 9-5 and Saturday from 9-4.

Erin

Erin has been a coach, ESL teacher, regional sales manager, professor, yoga instructor, life coach, daughter/sister/wife/mother, business owner, poet, and more.  She has a Bachelor’s & Master’s degree in creative writing and has received Master level reiki attunement, but maintains her status as a perpetual student, with the eye of an educator, strong intuition, a well developed voice, and a talent for divination.

An admitted personal development junkie, she has spent most of her adult life reading books, working through programs, immersing herself in this and that method or healing modality. She received her Usui Reiki master attunement in 2018 and it has been informing her practice and her life ever since. She comes to the present with a collection of knowledge, and a toolbox of techniques ready to help others apply them to their own lives including, but not limited to, yoga, meditation, reiki, oracle cards, nature connection, and intuitive healing.

Reiki as a medium for healing to Erin is so powerful because it allows a client to not muscle through all of life’s challenges on their own.  It works on a level below/beyond consciousness in a way that is a relief in a very intellectually demanding world.

Sessions with Erin are unique to a client’s needs, based both on their known desires and intuitive guidance, but always with the aim of leaving someone feeling a little bit lighter, with some insight for how to move forward more comfortably in their life.

Erin offers Reiki sessions Sunday-Tuesday

from 6-8:30 pm.
