Michigan law requires massage therapists to complete 625 hours of accredited training.  At A Healing Touch we believe in going above and beyond that requirement.  We are passionate learners and we love what we do.

Jamilah Jane Tuuk

Jamilah graduated with a 500 hour certificate from the Michigan Institute of Healing Arts & Sciences in 2008.  Since that time she has completed over 400 hours of continuing education with world-renowned experts from the Upledger Institute for CranioSacral Therapy, John F. Barnes MyoFascial Release Approach, The Manual Lymph Drainage Institute, McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release as well as Amber Davies of the Trigger Point Therapy Workbook.  Other certifications include such techniques as Acces Bars, Pillosage Thermal Connective Tissue Therapy, Reiki, acupressure, aromatherapy, kinesiotaping and cupping.  She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher and an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer.

Jamilah's journey to massage therapy was a long and bumpy one.  She explored several careers after earning her B.A. from

Calvin College in 1997.  Her interest in holistic health developed at a young age due to ongoing health issues.   She opened A Healing Touch in 2010 so that she would have the time and space she needed to pursue her passion for educating  clients in self-care.

In 2015 she was finally diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease  and her life has flourished since undergoing treatment.  Her own health struggles greatly inform her massage practice and have shaped her into a caring, compassionate healing artist who will truly listen to you as you craft your own path to wellness.   Her bodywork style is a unique blend of techniques that address not only the muscles but the connective tissue, lymphatics,  nervous system and energetic paths of the body as well.  She will take time to educate you on how you can continue your healing at home.

Jamilah offers a Signature Session that incorporates all of her knowledge into treating both your long and short-term goals in addition to her CranioSacral, MyoFascial Release, Trigger Point, Manual Lymph Drainage, Scar Tissue Release or Access Bars appointments. Her 2020 fall/winter schedule is Monday and Tuesday afternoons/evenings, Thursday and Saturday mornings/afternoons.
